Frida Kahlo Jaguar Print

In Mayan mythology, the jaguar was the ruler of the underworld, and was associated with great vision, the ability to see during the night, and the power to face one's fears. Mayans compared the daytime sun to an eagle flying high in the sky, but when the sun disappeared below the horizon each night it was compared to a jaguar - its spotted skin representing the stars in the night sky. They called it the "Night Sun" or "Jaguar Sun."
