Nineteenth century English ornithologist John Gould named these little candy-colored Australian native birds after his late wife, Lady Elizabeth Gould, and also declared them the most beautiful finch in the world. This trio looks very cheerful sitting in the swaying branches of a blossoming eucalyptus tree.
