Metallic Longhorn Beetle Print

In the entomology department at the California Academy of Sciences, we have a series of insect drawers we refer to as the "Oh My" collection. Within these drawers are some of the largest, most shiny, and most colorful specimens that we like to show off to visitors as a way to draw them into the amazing world of insects. This metallic blue longhorn beetle (Charmallaspis pulcherrima) is part of this collection, and it's easy to see why. In the wild, it can be found glinting in the sun across the forests of South America.
